The “Game of Stakes” is Now Open for Registration!

While Gaia testnets have provided invaluable beta software testing, the Game of Stakes testnet will be the first of its kind to simulate a live adversarial environment with real cryptoeconomic incentives for attackers. Victory can be achieved through clever technical, social, and economic maneuvering (within the bounds of the rules, of course!). The most resilient validators will be rewarded Atoms in the suggested genesis allocation from the Interchain Foundation.

Please join the GoS discussion channel, which will have regular announcements and present new challenges for winning bonus stake. You win in GoS by accumulating the most voting power (stake) by the end of the game.
Players are encouraged to:
- Modify their software and collude with other players to censor players’ abilities to participate in consensus and accumulate stake.
- Search for misconfigured validator setups and attempt to exploit them and block other players from accumulating stake.
- Target other players’ nodes with false or deceptive traffic.
300,000 Atoms suggested allocation will go to GoS winners.
Winners of the Game-of-Stakes will be awarded Atoms in the suggested genesis allocation of the Cosmos Hub. The first-place prize for the player with the most stake is 10,000 Atoms in the suggested genesis allocation. Other players will receive suggested allocations according to their ranking at the end of the game. Some validators may also receive additional stake for completing certain actions and challenges during the game.
What are the next steps?
Registration
- Online registration form: GoS.cosmos.network
To participate, all participants must complete the registration form, submit the appropriate documentation, and sign the required waiver contract. Participating validators will have their cosmos addresses confirmed on the GoS list of participants. Participants in GoS will have to sign a waiver that expressly authorizes every other participant to access the nodes used in this competition within the scope of these rules.
Timing
GoS is scheduled to launch in October.
- October 22nd is the deadline to register for “Game of Stakes”. After this date, we will provide a list of all of the Cosmos addresses of eligible competitors prior to kicking off the game.
- We will publish the Genesis file for the “Game of Stakes” after the submission deadline.
- The full duration of the game will be between two to four weeks. We will give at least one week’s notice prior to ending the “Game of Stakes”.
Rules of Engagement
The registration form provides in-depth details about the features being tested during the “Game of Stakes” and gives a high-level overview of the game’s mechanics. During the game, we will also announce additional challenges to test certain actions, for example, the acceptance of a governance proposal. The goal is for players to demonstrate adversarial behavior, however some activities are prohibited. For all the details, players can find them here.
